Successful Safety Practices

09 June 2020 One third of Ukraine’s population lives in rural areas. However, the police are concentrated in cities and district centers. Villages are assigned district officers, but each officer covers up to 10–15 settlements, with distances between them of up to fifty kilometers. So effective preventive policing is difficult, which exacerbates crime in villages. Yet there are communities with no serious crimes and only a handful of offenses, although the police rarely visit them either.
