Implementing the "Peaceful School" model involves creating a School Leadership Team.

School Leadership Teamis made up of 7–10 teachers, school psychologists and representatives of the parent community—motivated, selected and trained members of the educational institution who become the main "agents of change".

The team receives training in the "Peaceful School" Model and, with the support of an external expert-coach, plans, pilots, adapts and implements the Peaceful School in their educational institution.

Main functions of the School Leadership Team:

1) managing the process of implementing the Model in the school

2) engaging and training stakeholders in constructive approaches to conflict resolution; building cooperation among a wide range of education participants: teachers, students, parents.

The School Leadership Team is involved in the following activities:

  • model training (5 days): restorative school, ShSP, Resilience and Sensitivity to Diversity.
  • implementing the Model in their institution: practice throughout the school year of reconciliation circles*, mediation**, restorative language; supporting the established ShSP; training education participants in restorative practices.
  • supervision, monitoring and evaluation of service quality within the Model, ongoing feedback.
  • networking with ZZSOs that are implementing the "Peaceful School" model.

One year after beginning implementation and practice of the "Peaceful School" model, members of the School Leadership Team have the opportunity to participate in a trainer-of-trainers course (a 3-day interschool training). Trained trainers are involved in spreading experience of the Model's implementation in other educational institutions (upon request and in coordination with NGO "IMIP").

*Reconciliation circle – a gathering of people to talk about difficult issues and problems in an atmosphere of mutual respect and care according to certain rules. The circle approach involves all stakeholders in resolving the issue and ensures their active participation in discussing the situation and making decisions.

**Mediation is a voluntary and confidential process in which a neutral third party (the mediator) helps the parties in conflict find a mutually acceptable way to resolve the situation.
