On 14 October 2026, Alona Horova, Chair of the Board of the NGO “Institute for Peace and Common Ground” (IPCG), will participate in the panel discussion “Beyond the Table: Rethinking Women’s Meaningful Participation in Peace Processes” as part of the Geneva Peace Forum 2026.
The panel is organised by the OSCE Secretariat and PeaceWomen Across the Globe. It looks at what happens in societies during conflict, after it and at other stages, and at what shapes peace and the situation in a country apart from the negotiations between the parties.
The speakers represent four different stages. In Afghanistan, women are completely excluded from participation. In the Philippines, an agreement has been signed, and the main task now is to put it into practice. In Colombia, peace work is under pressure after an agreement. And in Ukraine the war goes on, and negotiations are still far away.
That is why at IPCG we do not wait for a ceasefire. For us, peacebuilding right now means working on social cohesion.
In Ukraine this is about resilience: connections and trust between people, and between people and the state. War opens new rifts among us, and every day it matters that trust does not disappear. This is what the country holds on to today, and what it will stand on after the war.
It is quiet, daily work, and a lot depends on it. Alona will talk about it in Geneva.
Date: 14 October 2026.
Time: 12:00–13:30 Kyiv time (11:00–12:30 Geneva time).
Format: Hybrid, with the option to participate online.
We invite you to join the discussion online. Further details and the link to participate are available on the official event page: https://www.genevapeaceforum.ch/en/gpf-2026/schedule/beyond-the-table-rethinking-women-s-meaningful-participation-in-peace-processes
