The Institute for Peace and Understanding is seeking mentors to implement the “Peaceful School” model.
The “Peaceful School” project invites new general secondary education institutions to participate. Selected schools will complete training on an online educational platform and, with support from experienced mentors, will be able to implement the model.
Peaceful School is an integrated and comprehensive model for building relationships and communication within an educational institution, aimed at creating a safe, peaceful environment through the prevention of violence and bullying and by reducing levels of conflict.
The model involves all participants in the educational process—teachers, students, parents and school administration—in discussion, decision-making and conflict resolution. This promotes cooperation and partnership among them.
A mentor’s task is to provide support and guidance to the leadership team during the implementation of the model.
We are looking for people who:
- have experience conducting trainings (facilitation) with school teams and adolescents
- have experience creating a safe, peaceful environment in a school community through preventing violence and bullying and reducing conflict levels
- are willing to dedicate time to online meetings and supporting schools
Advantages will include:
- experience implementing the “Peaceful School” model
- experience creating and supporting School Reconciliation Services
- completion of the basic training in the “Peaceful School” model and specialized facilitator training

Mentor positions are paid; teachers can receive a professional development certificate.
