Institute for Peace and Understanding in cooperation with the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict and UN Women in Ukraine, with the support of the United Nations Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) are implementing the project Expanding the capacities of internally displaced young women in Ukraine to participate in peacebuilding HER PERSPECTIVE.
The WPHF is a flexible, fast funding instrument that supports high-quality activities aimed at strengthening the capacity of local women to prevent conflict, respond to crises and emergencies, and seize key peacebuilding opportunities.
Our goal — strengthen social cohesion between internally displaced young women and host communities and encourage women's participation in future political processes aimed at reconciliation and reconstruction.
The project will support young women and girls aged 18 to 35 who are internally displaced, teaching them tools to make each of their stories visible and their voices heard.
Practical experience is an important driver of societal development. When people can reflect on it with support for themselves and others, it becomes a factor that strengthens the social fabric and restores connections within the country.
For collaboration we are looking for 5 youth centers/organizationsthat will help form teams and support their participation in the project.
Our potential partners are youth centers that:
- work with internally displaced women,
- are open to creative practices,
- are interested in learning facilitation skills and using innovative tools for group work.
During the project we will help women focus on their experiences, document what has happened and is happening during the war, and share their experiences with others. To this end, teams will be invited to produce video stories. These stories will be shown at an online festival and will serve as a resource for personal use and advocacy. For some, this may become a vocation, as you will learn to shoot and edit video, express yourself, and support women with similar experiences.
From partners we expect:
- attending training,
- recruiting a group of internally displaced women to participate in the project,
- supporting participants in the process of creating video projects,
- participation in the project's discussions and events.
We provide:
- training in a unique methodology for creating video communications and facilitation skills;
- technical support for video preparation and editing that will remain with the centers after the project ends,
- support and mentorship,
This is an opportunity to creatively express your vision of community issues, engage internally displaced girls and women, build new connections and strengthen existing contacts.
Participants who complete the full training will receive a certificate.

The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is the only global mechanism established exclusively to support women’s participation in peacebuilding and security processes as well as humanitarian assistance. The WPHF, governed by representatives of civil society, governments and the UN, is a multi-partner trust fund that mobilizes urgently needed funding for local women-led organizations and works with women on the front lines to build sustainable peace.
